A raised exhibition floor provides your stand with a sleek foundation, conceals cables, and ensures the stand is easily accessible. The only question is: do you rent a floor per exhibition, or do you buy one yourself?

Stand-On Floor offers both: the floor is available for purchase and for rent. In the Netherlands, Stand-On rents and sells the floor directly, without intermediaries. On this page, you can read when renting makes sense, when buying pays off, and how to transition from rental to purchase.

Renting or buying an exhibition floor: what does it depend on?

This mainly depends on how often you use the floor. If you are exhibiting once or just a few times, renting is usually logical: no investment, no storage, and no maintenance. If you build multiple stands per year, as an exhibitor or a stand builder, buying pays off sooner. Stand-On tiles are reusable for more than ten years.

Still in doubt? Start by renting. If you like the floor and plan to exhibit more often, you can buy it afterward. The rental fee will then be fully credited toward the purchase price, excluding transport costs.

    Renting and buying each have their own advantages. These are the four situations we encounter most often.

    Renting: when is it smart?

    Renting is smart if you exhibit once or a few times a year, have no storage space, or first want to experience how a raised floor works. You don’t invest upfront and don’t have to store or maintain anything. In the Netherlands, you rent the floor directly from Stand-On. Read how renting an expo floor works.

    Buying: when does it pay off?

    Buying pays off if you use the floor frequently and for multiple projects, have your own storage space, and want to assemble the floor yourself. A Stand-On floor clicks together without tools, can be assembled by one person, and remains usable for more than ten years. For a new look, you only need to replace the cover plates later.

    Rent first, buy later

    You don’t have to choose right away. You can rent a Stand-On floor first and buy it later. The rental fee will then be fully credited toward the purchase price; only the transport costs are not credited. This allows you to test the floor at a real exhibition before you invest.

    Renting and buying outside the Netherlands

    In the Netherlands, Stand-On rents and sells the floor directly. Outside the Netherlands, Stand-On Floor is sold and rented through a network of partners and resellers, and the system is used in more than 60 countries. Contact us to find out what options are available in your country.

    What determines the costs of an exhibition floor?

    A fixed price cannot be given. Costs depend on the number of square meters, the cover plates (carpet, vinyl, wood, or a print), edges and ramps, optional LED lighting, transport, and assembly. Configure your floor in the Stand-On portal or request a quote to receive a customized proposal.

    For rentals, the costs are primarily determined by the square footage, the rental period, and transport. When purchasing, you invest once in a floor that you can reuse for years.

    Storage, transport, and maintenance for your own floor

    With your own floor, you arrange storage and transport yourself. A base tile weighs 1.5 kg and the tiles are stackable. Stand-On supplies container boxes with wheels for 50 m² (200 tiles) or 25 m² (100 tiles), and shipping on pallets is also possible. The floor is 26 mm high, or 30 mm with cover plates.

      Frequently asked questions about renting or buying an exhibition floor

      Is it more economical to rent or buy an exhibition floor?

      For one exhibition per year or less, renting is usually more economical. There is no investment and you don’t have to store or maintain anything. With regular use, buying pays off because Stand-On tiles are reusable for more than ten years and you only need to replace the cover plates for a new look.

      How long does a purchased exhibition floor last?

      Stand-On Floor is made for long-term professional use and is reusable for more than ten years. For a new look, you only replace the cover plates; the base tiles last.

      How much storage space does your own exhibition floor require?

      The tiles are compact and stackable. A container box with wheels fits 50 m² (200 base tiles), the smaller box fits 25 m² (100 base tiles). The boxes are foldable and come with a rain cover.

      Can I assemble the floor myself?

      Yes. The tiles click together without tools using manual clickers, and the floor can be assembled by one person. Triangular lugs level the surface.

      Can I change the look of a purchased floor later?

      Yes. You only swap the cover plates: vinyl, carpet, wood, or a printed design. The base tiles remain in place.

      What happens to old or damaged tiles?

      The tiles are made from recycled polycarbonate granules and all products can be recycled again. Old tiles are ground down and re-manufactured, or added to the rental stock.
